Malaysia Export and Import Unit Value Indices Printed Increase of 0.3% and 1.7% :DoSM

According to Department of Statistics Malaysia (DoSM), Malaysia’s export and import unit value indices maintained the positive growth in June 2022 by 0.3% and 1.7% month-on-month respectively.

In terms of value, Exports were registered at RM146.2 billion compared to RM120.5 billion, which translates to an increase of 21.3% month-on-month. Meanwhile, imports in June this year were RM124. 2 billion compared to RM107.8 billion in May 2022, an increase of 15.2% month-on-month.

Exports unit value index printed a mild increase of 0.3%. This is attributed to the 3 main exports, namely, machinery & transport equipment (1.4%), miscellaneous (0.4%), and chemicals (0.3%).

Whilst, imports unit value index rose 1.7%. The three main components under his category are: mineral fuels (7.4%), machinery & transport equipment (1.2%), and miscellaneous (0.6%).

Export volume index printed a hike of 20.9% with 3 main components, mineral fuels (increase of 42%), miscellaneous manufactured articles (32.3%), and machinery and transport equipment (13.6%).

Import volume index, on the other hand, registered an increase of 13.4%. Three main components are, mineral fuels (increase of 43.7%), manufactured goods (22.7%) and chemicals (14.1%).

Terms of trade, according to the DoSM, fell 1.3% month-on-month which could be attributed to the fall in mineral fuels (-7.1%), inedible crude materials (-0.4%) and manufactured articles (-0.2%).
