MATRADE Urges Malaysian Businesses To Leverage On INSP MIHAS To Connect With Over 400 International Buyers

The Malaysia External Trade  Development Corporation (MATRADE) is organising its flagship International Sourcing  Programme (INSP) in conjunction with the 18th Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) 2022.  

According to YBhg. Datuk Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz, CEO of MATRADE, INSP MIHAS 2022 will host over 400 international buyers from over 50 countries including from the Middle East,  Europe, Central Asia, South Asia, ASEAN, Oceania, and African region. A total of 2,760  business meetings are anticipated to be arranged during the physical INSP MIHAS on 6 September. 

“Last year’s INSP MIHAS connected 385 Malaysian companies with 333 international buyers,  generating deals worth RM749.1 million for Malaysian exporters and we expect an equally successful programme this year. As such, we highly encourage Malaysian businesses to maximise this tremendous opportunity to expand their export presence into new markets by 

meeting new buyers and exploring cross-segment collaborations,” said YBhg. Datuk Mohd  Mustafa Abdul Aziz. 

YBhg. Datuk Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz added that for INSP MIHAS 2022, Malaysian companies can look forward to connecting with premium buyers from countries such as Qatar,  Saudi Arabia, USA, India, and Türkiye. These buyers represent some of the largest conglomerates, retailers, and supermarkets in these countries. 

INSP MIHAS comprises pre-arranged one-to-one business meetings, both physical and virtual, which facilitate trade deals between international buyers and Malaysian suppliers of  Halal products and services.

International buyers at INSP MIHAS this year are seeking to connect with Malaysian companies from the following segments:

Malaysian businesses with Halal offerings are urged to register at no charge with the MIHAS INSP Secretariat. The virtual B2B business meetings will be held via virtual meeting platform depending on the availability of buyers and suppliers. While for physical B2B meetings, it will be held on 6 September at MATRADE, a day before the four-day MIHAS 2022 exhibition begins, while the virtual B2B meetings are currently ongoing until 31 August.

The programme’s hybrid format this year is curated in line with Malaysia’s transition into the endemic phase and subsequent reopening of the country’s international borders.
