AmBank Group and Capital Markets Malaysia (CMM), an affiliate of the Securities Commission Malaysia, collaborated to host a webinar on ESG and Sustainability for AmBank’s SME clients on 12 August 2022.
The webinar was geared to equip SMEs with amongst others, guidance on the fundamentals of ESG and simplified calculations for greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions which includes supports for SMEs to transit towards low carbon and sustainability practices.
“We are pleased to work with CMM on this initiative to assist SMEs in building a sustainable future. Integrating sustainability strategies in business operations have become integral for competitiveness. In fact, the call for businesses to adopt sustainable practices has become louder,” Christopher Yap, Managing Director, Business Banking, AmBank Group said.
“With this platform, we aim to channel knowledge and expertise from industry specialists into helping SMEs build a robust sustainability structure to create a positive impact and shared prosperity for the current and future generations,” he added.
SMEs play a vital role in the supply chains of many Malaysian public listed companies (PLCs). As PLCs begin to strive towards meeting international sustainability standards, it is important to ensure that sustainability is also embedded within their supply chains.
Strengthening sustainable supply chain practices is a key priority for CMM’s Centre for Sustainable Corporations.
