Asian Bourses Closed in Upbeat Mood

Kuala Lumpur, Sep 12 (Monday) – Bursa Malaysia moved slightly higher today with the barometer index, FBM KLCI rose 1.43 points or +0.10% to 1,497.96. Following the footprint of the performance of Wall Street last Friday and regional bourses, KLCI inched up slightly higher, re-testing the psychological level of 1,500 point. The index was supported by selected buying on valuation stocks and energy sector. Moving on to the Asian region, China and Hong Kong stock exchanges were closed for the Mid-Autumn festival. All of the Asian bourses ended in green, infused with renewed optimism by tracking the euphoric performance of DJIA and Nasdaq last Friday. In the meantime, investors are waiting for U.S. consumer price index (CPI) data for August. The consensus forecast is that the reading of CPI is expected to cool somewhat.
