HSS Engineers Seals Second Preferred Partnership with Yachiyo

The engineering and project management consultant, HSS has established its second preferred partnership with a Japanese engineering consultancy firm, as its subsidiary HSS Engineering signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) today with Yachiyo Engineering Co., Ltd. (YEC).

This marks HSS’ second partnership with a Japanese engineering consultancy firm.

YEC provides services from planning and feasibility study through preliminary and detailed design to construction supervision, operation training and procurement services across 110 countries globally. Supported by more than 860 workforce including professional engineers, architects, planners, economists and specialists, YEC currently maintains overseas offices, including in Indonesia, Malaysia, India, Egypt, Brazil, and Oman.

HSS and YEC would collaborate as Preferred Partner for projects across ASEAN, India and any other country, with priorities given to areas including Water Resources Management and Water Supply, Disaster Risk Management including Flood Mitigation, Road and Transportation, Urban Environment Management (including Solid Waste
Management and Sewage, Smart Cities, ICT Infrastructure (including Data Centers) and Renewable Energy, under this partnership.

The first MOU signed with a Japanese company was signed with Oriental Consultants Global Co Ltd (OC Global) in July this year.

“Having individually facilitated the infrastructure development of our respective home countries, our preferred partnership with YEC epitomises our shared goal of improving the quality of life for the entire society. The signing of this MOU with YEC allows HSS to partner yet another formidable player to bring our engineering expertise globally, focusing on the ASEAN regiona, India and any other developing country. More excitingly, HSS would be able to be more heavily involved in the
implementation of key infrastructure development projects funded by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA),” Tan Sri Ir. Kuna Sittampalam, Executive Vice Chairman of HSS said.

“All in all, we envision a loyal and solid partnership with YEC as we work towards advancing the national and regional development together and bringing about positive socio-economic change via our shared resources,” he added.

To recap, JICA, established in 1974, is the primary Japanese governmental agency responsible for delivering Japan’s Official Development Assistance program to support socioeconomic development in developing countries across the globe. Japan had reportedly earmarked USD367 billion investments in various infrastructure projects in Southeast Asia.
