Asian Stocks Climbed Tracking Positive Cue of Wall Street

Kuala Lumpur, Sep 20 (Tuesday) – Bursa Malaysia ended in green today with the barometer index FBM KLCI climbed 9.58 points or +0.66% to 1,461.10. KLCI rebounded today from its one-month low of 1,451.52 (Sept 19) due to dip-buying on selected heavyweights. This is in line with the regional peers. Hong Kong’s HSI was the best performer today with the index jumped 1.16% supported by bio-technology stocks, lithium stocks. It is said that funds from China are flowing into the HKSE for dip-buying. Australia’s ASX 200 Index made a good 1.29% increase, gains in the metals & mining and resources sectors led the stocks closed higher. Whilst Singapore’s STI rebounded from its recent low, buoyed by DBS, UOB, OCBC Bank, Jardine C&C and City Development.

** The FTSE BM KLCI opened at 1,454.42. The index fluctuated between 1,454.42 – 1,465.58

** 415 counters are gainers, 427 counters are unchanged, while 385 counters are losers.

** Total volume of 2,116,184,400 shares changed hands; while Turnover of RM 1,647,995,340

* Singapore’s Straits Times Index (STI) rose 10.17 points or +0.31% to 3,266.48; Hong Kong’s HSI advanced 215.45 points or +1.16% at 18,781.42; Japan’s Nikkei 225 Index climbed 120.77 points or +0.44% at 27,688.42; Shanghai’s SSE Index rose 6.80 points or +0.22% at 3,122.41; Korea’s KOSPI Index up 12.19 points or +0.52% at 2,367.85; Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 advanced 86.50 points or +1.29% at 6,806.40.
