Maybank IB Group Won Alpha Southeast Asia Best Financial Institutions Awards and Asian Banking & Finance Awards

Maybank Investment Banking was named the Best Broker in Southeast Asia for the ninth consecutive year by the 16th Alpha Southeast Asia Best Financial Institutions Awards.

Maybank IBG also bagged Asian Banking & Finance awards in two categories, namely Corporate & Investment Banking 2022 and Wholesale Banking 2022.

For the category of Corporate & Investment Banking 2022:-

Malaysia – Maybank Investment Bank won the Best Corporate & Investment Bank of the Year award for two landmark transactions i.e. Best Equity Deal of the Year award as Joint Principal Adviser, Joint Global Coordinator, Joint Bookrunner, Joint Managing Underwriter and Joint Underwriter for CTOS Digital’s MYR1.21 billion IPO, the largest Malaysian IPO in 2021 and the largest ever technology offering in Malaysia and Project Infrastructure Finance Deal of the Year award as Arranger for Solarpack Suria Sungai Petani’s MYR275.0 million bridging loan, the first solar project by the Solarpack Group in ASEAN.

Singapore – Maybank Securities won the Best Equity Deal of the Year award as Joint Issue Manager, Joint Global Coordinator and Joint Bookrunner for Aztech Global’s SGD297.0 million IPO, the largest non-REIT offering in 2021 in the republic.

Thailand – Maybank Securities won the Syndicated Loan of the Year award as Mandated Lead Arranger and Bookrunner for Ek-Chai Distribution System’s USD2.5 billion syndicated term loan to part finance the refinancing of its parent company, CP Retail Development’s bridging loan which partly funded the acquisition of Tesco’s businesses in Thailand and Malaysia in 2020.


Whilst for the category of Wholesale Banking 2022, Maybank Investment Bank secured these transaction deals:

Domestic Project Finance Bank of the Year award as Coordinating Arranger, Mandated Lead Arranger and Bookrunner for Pulau Indah Power Plant’s MYR 2.7 billion Syndicated Term Financing, which is the largest power plant transaction in Malaysia in 2021; and

Domestic Sustainability Initiative of the Year award as Joint Lead Manager for SME Development Bank’s MYR500.0 million Sustainability Islamic Medium Term Notes (IMTNs), the first of such issuance by a development financial institution in Malaysia.
