Collective Effort Needed To Accelerate Digital Economy

Accelerating Digital Economy requires all core stakeholders: Consumers, Business and Governments to think digital-first for developing new products, services or business models.

This was the sentiment put forward by Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd Konesh Kochhal as a participant to the Malaysia China Digital Economy Forum that took place in Kuala Lumpur on Sept 30.

The forum, which aims to promote mutual technology development and cooperation to drive the future of the digital economy ecosystem between Malaysia and China, saw the participation of government bodies, industry leaders, technology experts, academia and businesses to explore digital transformation and cooperation between Malaysia and China.

With the theme, “Bridging the Malaysia-China Digital Economy Ecosystems”, the forum explored insightful topics with speakers from the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), Fusionex, TusStar and many others.

Representing Huawei Malaysia Kochhal, who spoke on the topic, “Unlocking the Growth Potential with Digital First Economy Approach in Malaysia,” said: “A resulting Digital First Economy will ensure continued investments, synergised outcomes and sustainable digitalisation progress.”

The event saw speeches delivered by the Prime Minister’s Special Envoy to the People’s Republic of China cum Chairman of Malaysia-China Business Council Dato Sri Tiong King Sing, Deputy Minister of Higher Education Dato’ Ahmad Masrizal Muhammad, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China H.E. Ouyang Yujing and other dignitaries.

Huawei Malaysia CEO Michael Yuan, who is also the Vice President of the China Enterprises Chamber of Commerce in Malaysia, was also present at the event.

The forum also hosted an exhibition which involved Huawei Malaysia, alongside other companies, showcasing the latest technologies, products, and services as well as business models that highlighted the advanced digital transformative tools from China.

The Malaysia-China Digital Economy Forum 2022 is organised by the Malaysia-China Business (MCBC) and seeks to create a platform for accelerating digital adoption by encouraging mutual technology and talent exchanges, joint development of cybersecurity and data protection, and mutual development of digital ecosystems between Malaysia and China.

The forum hopes to be the bridge that opens dialogue between the public and private sectors in Malaysia and China by pushing high-quality digital economy development. It also strives to foster innovative and immersive ecosystems in the two countries to deepen technological cooperation and joint partnerships to elevate both countries as the new engine of growth in the thriving digital era.
