Selangor International Business Summit 2022 Showcases Its Attractiveness as a Global Investment Destination

The 6th Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2022 has been officially kicked-off today at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Kuala Lumpur, by Invest Selangor Berhad.

The summit will be held for 4 days, from 6th to 9th October – featuring six main events, i.e. The 6th Selangor ASEAN Business Conference, The 7th Selangor Smart City and Digital Economy Convention, The 3rd Selangor R&D and Innovation Expo, The 8th Selangor International Expo (Medic) and the 2nd Selangor Industrial Park Expo (SPARK).

SIBS 2022 was officiated by His Royal Highness Tengku Amir Shah Ibni Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj, the Crown Prince of Selangor, who represented His Royal Highness Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj Ibni Almarhum Sultan Salahudin
Abdul Aziz Shah Alhaj, Sultan and Ruler of the State of Selangor Darul Ehsan and all its dependencies.

During the opening ceremony, His Royal Highness Tengku Amir Shah Ibni Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj, the Crown Prince of Selangor, also witnessed two exchange of documents ceremony between UMW Development Sdn Bhd and LONGi (Kuching) Sdn Bhd and Perbadanan Kemajuan Pertanian Selangor (PKPS) and Petronas Global Technical Solutions Sdn Bhd.

It is notable that the biggest events in SIBS 2022 is the Selangor International Expo (F&B) 2022 which features a total of 421 booths from Hall 1 to Hall 5 on the ground floor of this convention centre. The Supermarket Buyers Program, a program where SIE Exhibitors are onboarded with the supermarkets, will return with a total of 8 Supermarkets participating this year namely ST Rosyam Mart Sdn Bhd, Lulu Group Retail Malaysia, Trendcell Sdn Bhd (Jaya Grocer), QRA Sdn Bhd, My Hero Supermarket Sdn Bhd, Lotus’s Stores Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Orange Convenient Store Sdn Bhd and CKS Supermarket Sdn Bhd.

Whereas the regional Selangor ASEAN Business Conference (SABC) was also held today with international and regional speakers. SABC 2022 featured a total of 17 speakers and 6 moderators with over 250 attendees.

Meanwhile, The Selangor Smart City & Digital Economy Convention (SDEC) also features new elements this year that include the Selangor SME Digitalisation Conference, Asian Smart City Conference, the ASEAN Livestream Festival and Pitch@Selangor 6: Selangor Fashion Accelerator programme.

The Selangor R&D and Innovation Expo (SRIE) continues its 3rd year with SIBS 2022 and features a total of 120 booths, whereas Selangor International Expo (MEDIC) features a total of 79 booths, with international participants coming from 4 countries.

Selangor Industrial Park Expo (SPARK) features the industrial estates and its ecosystem within Selangor with a total 123 booths.

Apart from the 6 main events, the Selangor International Culinary Festival (SICF 2022) is making its return to SIBS 2022, featuring the Individual and Team competitions for professional and aspiring chefs coming from all over Malaysia.

Selangor International Healthcare Conference (SIHC 2022) also return on the second day of SIBS 2022 until the fourth day of the summit.

The latest event in this year’s SIBS series is the Asian Smart City Conference : Mayors Summit and Selangor Declaration, where a total of 12 Mayors from Australia, South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, India, and Malaysia will be attending. In this summit, leaders from cities around the world will be sharing their knowledge, experiences, and approaches to resolve city liveability challenges through smart technologies.

“SIBS 2022, now in its 6th edition, is by far, the biggest business summit ever organised in the region. SIBS 2022 occupies a total of 8 expo halls, 4 conference halls, 2 plenary halls and 2 banquet halls totalling the space of 20,096 SQM sqm. It will feature a total of 846 booths, with participants and attendees coming from a total of 24 countries,” Dato’ Teng remarked.

SIBS 2022 features the international participants from Australia, Austria, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Canada, Czech Republic, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Tajikistan, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Maldives, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, UAE, Vietnam and USA.

Domestically, apart from pavilions coordinated by agencies such as FAMA, MARA, Malaysian Cocoa Board, Jabatan Perikanan Malaysia and RISDA. State pavilions from Sabah, Sarawak, Johor, Malacca, Negeri Sembilan, Selangor, Perak, Kedah, Perlis and Penang are also welcomed.
