MMHE And GASB To Establish Training Program For O&G Welders

Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering Sdn Bhd together with Gigih Avenue Sdn Bhd collaborate to provide training and certification in welding and employment opportunities for eligible local welders. The program will not only satisfy MMHE’s own manpower demand but also develop a technical-skilled workforce among local talents for the oil & gas and various energy sectors in Malaysia.

GASB which is already in the training area will be carrying out customised welding training in accordance with MMHE’s operations for the identified candidates and assessing their competency level to meet the relevant skill requirements. Meanwhile, MMHE, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering Holdings Berhad will offer employment placements to the successful candidates.

Currently, MHB is backed by a highly skilled workforce where more than 90% of the employees are Malaysian. As for the areas which require specialised technical skills, the group will take initiative in upskilling them to optimising their potential.

Complementing the customised technical skill training provided by GASB, MHB also operates a centre of excellence which open to employees and the public to undergo statutory leadership and functional certified programmes. Established in 2015, the centre is a recognised Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF) training provider where on average, run about 60 programmes which involve approximate 8,000 participants in a year.
