PETRONAS The Title Sponsor for IGEM 2022

PETRONAS has been named by Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC) as the title sponsor for International Greentech & Eco Products Exhibition & Conference Malaysia (IGEM 2022).

“PETRONAS is an exemplary organisation and is one of the industry leaders driving Malaysia towards being carbon-neutral by 2050 and their accomplishment through innovations in creating cleaner energy solutions towards building a sustainable future for all is aligned with IGEM’s mission. We are proud to have one of Malaysia’s most successful homegrown brands, PETRONAS as our title sponsor,” Ts. Shamsul Bahar Mohd Nor, Chief Executive Officer MGTC remarked.

IGEM is a governmental effort to protect the nation’s resources and economy from climate change and assist in pandemic recovery.

The theme of this year’s IGEM, Race Towards Net Zero: Fulfilling Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) & Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESG) Commitments, corresponds to the 12th Malaysia Plan, a five-year roadmap for our nation to achieve economic growth and transform Malaysia into a prosperous, inclusive, and sustainable country.

Being one of the key drivers in leading Malaysia’s energy transition, PETRONAS is well-poised to showcase its sustainability journey, including new developments in green technologies. PETRONAS’ aspiration and IGEM’s objectives are consistent with the nation’s goal of becoming carbon-neutral by 2050.

PETRONAS Technology Ventures (PTVSB) and Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC) inked a Memorandum of Understanding in conjunction with IGEM 2022 to jointly develop and deliver green technology projects including hydrogen generation, covering the aspects of production, applications in mobility, and knowledge exchange among others.

IGEM 2022 will be held from 12 until 14 October 2022 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. Participants in the conference and pocket talk sessions will be able to dive deep into issues such as climate change, hydrogen, financing, sustainability, water waste, environment, carbon neutrality, youth, and women. These discussions will attract professionals and influential thinkers from a range of industries.

Representatives from 30 countries, including China, the Netherlands, Canada, Korea, Singapore, and Austria, participated in the three-day event. Thirty conference presenters and ten conference partners participated in the 15 conference sessions.

More than 300 exhibitors will be participating at this year’s IGEM encompassing the four pillars of the exhibition and conference: accelerating circularity, electrification mobility, empowering cities and decarbonising energy.
