Bringing “Soul” Food To People Of KL; SOULed OUT Ampang

Having been around since 1996, SOULed OUT is definitely a name everyone is familiar with. SOULed OUT Ampang is located in the centre of the city to serve customers in the area. It is a place for friends and family to develop the spirit of friendship and camaraderie, with an eclectic blend of local, western, and northern Indian food and beverages.

We were invited over to their Ampang outlet which only recently moved to the LINC KL and boy were we impressed with their hospitality as soon as we arrived!

As soon as we were seated, they brought out their signature lychee mojitos (RM29), and whiskey sour (RM32) for us to quench our thirst.

The bartenders were helpful enough to elaborate on what goes in each drink as well!

The lychee mojitos were one of the best we’ve ever had, and we could actually taste the rum in it (which is very difficult to find nowadays to be honest). The whiskey sour was incredible as well and did not have an eggy flavour to it.

It was now our time to devour in their delicious food!

We started of with the Railway Mutton Curry (RM35) which was served with soft and fluffy cheese naan. The mutton literally melted in our mouths and the blend of spices in the gravy was too good! This was definitely one of our favourites.

Next came the fried beef noodles (RM22) which is SOULed OUT’s take on the classic “char hor fun”. Their springy “kway teow” paired with their perfectly seasoned gravy was simply immaculate.

We were then flown to Italy with their famous Seafood Aglio Olio (RM38) which was loaded with fresh seafood such as mussels, prawns, fish, and squid! The pasta was cooked perfectly and it was such a simple yet flavourful dish.

By this time, our stomachs were already filled to the brim, but more food came out of their kitchen! Next came the Sake San pizza (RM28) and Chicken Tikka (RM25). The Sake San pizza was topped with their homemade bechamel sauce and salmon gravlax and the Chicken Tikka which was served with a mint chutney was beautifully marinated and was super juicy!

To top it off, we were served with Bailey’s ‘Cendol’ (RM18) which was a nice twist to the traditional cendol with a side of Bailey’s Irish cream. This was definitely one of our favourites as well as we never knew Bailey’s would go so well with ‘cendol’!

With our tummies full, we decided to just sit back and enjoy the amazing atmosphere at SOULed OUT Ampang. After enjoying an array of delicacies, we will definitely come back for more to taste what more SOULed OUT Ampang has to offer.
