Planning A Trip Overseas Soon? Here’s What You Need To Know To Renew Your Passport Online!

Years ago, the thought of heading to the immigration office to renew our passports was a nightmare as we knew how long it will take it to get the whole process done.

Thankfully, the government has introduced an online portal to make our lives easier!

Here are some simple steps you should follow in order to make your online passport renewal journey a rather seamless one.

  1. Visit the immigration portal and read the terms and conditions stated on the portal.
  2. Click ‘Setuju’ at the bottom of the page once you are done reading to indicate that you agree to the terms.
  3. You will then be requested to provide your information so that the system can recognise your previous passport.
  4. Fill in the necessary information on the next page.
  5. The next step requires you to submit your photograph. Crop in accordance with the size specified.
  6. When you are satisfied with all of the information you have provided, click ‘Update.’
  7. Your application has been approved when you receive the following notification: “PERMOHONAN ANDA TELAH DITERIMA.”
  8. The payment comes next. Select your preferred payment option and proceed to payment.
  9. Once your payment has been processed, you must print two copies of the receipt: one for your records and one to bring with you when you go to pick up your new passport.
  10. You will then receive an email within 3 days stating that your passport is ready for collection at the immigration office you chose during your application.
  11. Make an appointment to collect your passport from the email sent to you.
  12. Be sure to bring your IC, receipt, old passport, and your appointment slip when you collect your new passport.
  13. Hand over the receipt and your old passport at the immigration office.
  14. Your old passport will be cancelled, and your new one will be issued.

You are all set to travel overseas now. Happy travelling!
