10 More Kidnapped Job Seekers Rescued And Return From Cambodia

A total of 10 more Malaysians who were victims of a fraud job offer syndicate in Cambodia were successfully rescued and brought back to their homeland.

Through a statement today, Wisma Putra informed that all of them arrived at Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 and were handed over to the police to assist in the investigation. As of now, 313 Malaysians who were victims of a job offer syndicate were successfully rescued from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand. Of that number, 255 people have been repatriated while the remaining 58 are still detained in the immigration detention depots of the countries concerned while awaiting the deportation process.

Wisma Putra also expressed its appreciation to the Malaysian Embassy in Phnom Penh and the Cambodian government who continue to take proactive measures to save and expedite the repatriation of victims.

“Wisma Putra through the Malaysian Representations and government agencies of the countries concerned will continue to work together and intensify efforts to deal with the issue of this criminal syndicate,” according to the statement.

Malaysians have been reminded to always be careful with job offers received especially through social media to avoid them becoming victims of the syndicate.
