AmanahRaya Trustees Berhad is embarking on an ESG campaign by supporting Zoo Negara Malaysia’s Grow and Conserve program which includes tree planting and also sponsoring a cheetah.
The ‘participation is part of AmanahRaya Trustee’s is part of its effort to expand its commitment towards sustainability business in addition to practicing ESG practices, the group acts as a Trustee for Collective Investment Schemes, Bonds Corporate and Private Pension Schemes regulated by the Securities Commission Malaysia.
Speaking on the new role the company has taken on, Managing Director Ahmad Feizal Sulaiman Khan says the ESG implementation is a requirement that will be used to evaluate practices, implementation, and the impact on financial performance as well as the importance of more investments in sustainable for a company, especially.
As for selecting Bolt the Cheetah, he said the animal is symbolic of the company’s business which is efficient and agile in business while producing sustainable economic development.
The group donated a cheque for RM16,391 as a gesture and hoped that the donation will help the National Zoo in an effort to ensure that the ‘King Cheetah’ continues to be preserved and protected from the threat of extinction.
According to Feizal large part of the group’s income comes from corporate’s into the various collective investment schemes such as unit trust funds, and also as trustees from the issuance of Sukuk corporate bonds. AmanahRaya Trustee currently manages assets with a value of RM560 billion. During this five-year period, it recorded a 10% increase in business.
Moving forward the group has upgraded existing systems by embracing digital solutions, moving into the fintech space, and play an important role in supporting members using technology.
