Maxis To Extend Expertise For MDEC IdeaKita Event

Maxis has confirmed participation in the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation IdeaKita programme where the telco will be providing its expertise as industry mentors to guide participants in the Office Hours Mentoring Sessions at the events 10-day innovation Camp.

The IdeaKita programme which is under the Malaysia Digital initiative enables aspiring innovators and entrepreneurs to start their own tech companies across multiple industries and provides industry mentorship, intellectual property awareness, and minimum viable product development. The boot camp was divided into two tracks – for those who want to start a tech company but do not have a business idea yet; and for those who already have a business idea and are looking for customer and market validation, MVP development, and learning how to sell. Through the boot camp, budding innovators and entrepreneurs were given access to industry mentors and training courses to validate their problem statements, ideas, and business models to bring them to market.

“IdeaKita aims to catalyse and transform the capabilities and capacities of our digital ecosystem. As part of the new Malaysia Digital initiative, our goal is to create and foster 200 new tech companies by the end of the year. MDEC will continue to accelerate collaborations that will drive digital adoption among young entrepreneurs, businesses, and the rakyat to make Malaysia a digital hub in ASEAN,” said Mahadhir Aziz, Chief Executive Officer, MDEC.

Maxis has been active in the innovation space, developing several programmes with the startup ecosystem in collaboration with MDEC through initiatives such as the Maxis IoT Challenge, SPARK series and Market Access Day.
