National utility giant, Tenaga Nasional Berhad said it had made necessary preparation to ensure that electricity supply in all 6623 Voting Centers and 165 Official Vote Totaling Centers throughout the Peninsula are in good condition on the day of voting for the 15th General Election (GE 15), which will take place on the 19th of November.

This comes just a few days before polling begins at many of the voting centres across the country, in the past, there have been issues with power failures at some of the centres causing disruption to the election process. In this instance, TNB has sought cooperation from all parties to refrain from digging the ground on that day in an effort to reduce the risk of touching electric cables, thereby avoiding the possibility of power supply interruptions due to cable damage.

According to TNB’s Chief Distribution Network Officer, Wan Nazmy Wan Mahmood, the company itself postponed such works from November 16 while focusing on ensuring supply stability throughout GE 15, especially on the eve of the election results. “Our advice is to postpone the dredging work first and if it cannot be avoided, follow all the procedures and procedures set so that we can both reduce the risk of disruption.”TNB has already made preliminary preparations in an effort to ensure that the technical, operational, and standby aspects of electricity supply to those locations are always guaranteed. We have also deployed task forces to monitor and stand by for these important locations,” he said.

According to Wan Nazmy, TNB has sought the cooperation of the Election Commission, Public Works Department (JKR), and Local Authorities in each state to obtain detailed feedback on electricity requirements at all polling stations and the tallying of votes.
