Asian Bourses Recover in Capped Gains Amidst Rising Covid Cases in China

Kuala Lumpur, November 22 – Bursa Malaysia ended Tuesday trading day in mildly bearish mood, with the FBM KLCI ceded 6.67 points or -0.46% at 1,441.29. At the time of writing, the political impasse is still dragging i.e. there is no prime minister named. Investors are staying on the sideline until further notice.

Meanwhile, Asian bourses mostly ended in capped gains today. The recent losses had invited dip-buying by the investors. Losses in technology stocks adds pressure in most major bourses. Market participants’ mood are weighed down by concerns on rising cases COVID cases in Beijing. There may be fears on reimpose strict COVID curbs that could cause supply chain disruptions.

** The FTSE BM KLCI opened at 1,446.72. The index fluctuated between 1,435.02 – 1,451.31.

** 363 counters are gainers, 415 counters are unchanged, while 427 counters are decliners.

** Total volume of 4,573,808,200 shares changed hands; while Turnover of RM 2,115,756,531

** The Top 5 Gainers: HSI-HE3 (2.04, +0.31); TIMECOM (4.95, +0.30); HEXTECH (12.86, +0.28); MFLOUR-LA (1.24, +0.19); BAT (10.68, +0.16)

** The Top 5 Losers: NESTLE (130.40, -1.40); PETDAG (21.44, -0.72); BKAWAN (21.14, -0.48); PPB (16.22, -0.28); CARLSBG (21.78, -0.22)

** The Top 5 Active: ASB (0.18, +0.02); EDEN (0.175, -0.02); MUIIND (0.10, 0.00); DNEX (0.61, +0.04); THRIVEN (0.145, -0.01)

* Singapore’s Straits Times Index (STI) inched up 13.20 points or +0.41% to 3,263.82; Hong Kong’s HSI ceded 231.50 points or -1.31% at 17,424.41; Japan’s Nikkei 225 Index climbed 170.95 points or +0.61% at 28,115.74; Shanghai’s SSE Composite Index gained 3.90 points or +0.13% at 3,088.94; Korea’s Kospi Index down 14.23 points or -0.59% at 2,405.27; Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 Index up 42.00 points or +0.59% at 7,181.30.
