LRT Frequency To Be Cut From 5 Minutes To 3 Minutes With New Train Orders

After taking an incognito ride on the LRT during peak hours, Transport Minister Anthony Loke got a full understanding of the extent of trouble the common man and women go through daily while commuting on the light rail system.

Since that day, in his week at the office, Anthony has asked LRT operator Prasarana to issue a new lift contract in February next year to improve all facilities in all the stations in Klang Valley. The Minister has also ensured 56 new LRT trains are operational in stages from Q3 next year which will cut frequency time from 5 minutes to 3 minutes.

These are some of the early interventions the new Minister is working on which can be seen to solve the issue of delays and frequent breakdowns of the rail system. LRT has been around for nearly 20 years and is often known to breakdown, the recent Kelana Jaya incident during peak hours and rainy season breakdown caused much discontent among the public who had called for Prasarana CEO to address the matter immediately.
