Asian Stocks Gains with HSI Leading the Gains, FBM KLCI Halt Losing Streak

Kuala Lumpur, December 9 – Bursa Malaysia closed higher on Friday with the benchmark index FBM KLCI climbed 11.26 points or +0.77 % at 1477.19.

The local bourse halt the losing streak after it had moved lower in five consecutive days, declining more than 25 points or 1.7%. The FBM KLCI rested just above the 1,465-point plateau and it reversed its negative trajectory.

The Hang Seng Index led gains in Asian stock markets as China inflation data came in roughly in line with expectations as well as the further policy stimulus to support the property sector in China. China’s CPI (consumer price index) increased by 1.6% in November, while its producer price index declined to 1.3%.

Hong Kong’s HSI surged 2.32% to 19,900.87, which was buoyed by technology stocks. Whilst China’s Shanghai Composite Index only increased fractionally by 0.3% to 3,206.95

Japan’s Nikkei 225 reversed its negative trend and rose 1.18% to 27,901.01. In Australia, the S&P/ASX 200 inched up 0.53%.

** The FTSE BM KLCI opened at 1,467.90. The index fluctuated between 1,466.76– 1,474.48.

** 580 counters are gainers, 369 counters are unchanged, while 390 counters are decliners.

** Total volume of 3.243 billion shares changed hands; while Turnover of RM 1.938 billion

** The Top 5 Gainers: NESTLE (136.80, +1.60); VITROX (7.94, +0.34); FANG-2XL (5.53, +0.33); PETGAS (16.84, +0.32); F&N (21.26, +0.22)

** The Top 5 Losers: HSI-HE3 (0.83, -0.49); KLK (20.80, -0.20); HEXTECH (13.18, -0.18); SP500-H13 (1.45, -0.17); HSI-HKH (0.87, -0.17)

** The Top 5 Active: SAPNRG (0.045, +0.005); BORNOIL (0.025, +0.00); DATAPRP (0.31, +0.005); HSI-CJ5 (0.25, +0.05); MQTECH (0.055, +0.005)

Singapore’s Straits Times Index (STI) up 5.12 points or +0.16% to 3,241.20; Hong Kong’s HSI soared 450.64 points or +2.32% at 19,900.87; Japan’s Nikkei 225 Index jumped 326.58 points or +1.18% at 27,901.01; Shanghai’s SSE Composite Index gained 9.60 points or +0.3% at 3,206.95; Korea’s Kospi Index rose 17.96 points or +0.76% at 2,389.04; Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 Index rose 37.70 points or +0.53% at 7,213.20.
