MBSA Will Enforce Face Masks For Food Operators From Jan 1

The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) said it will enforce the use of face masks for operators of food outlets, starting on January 1, 2023.

Mayor Nor Fuad Abdul Hamid said the matter had been mutually agreed upon during the comprehensive MBSA meeting held early this month.

“The use of face masks will be enforced to control and curb the spread of Covid-19. Doing so will encourage traders and the wider community to practice cleanliness at the highest level,” he said at the farewell ceremony for outgoing Shah Alam Deputy Mayor Mohd Rashidi Ruslan, earlier today.

Nor Fuad added that MBSA will also make the wearing of face masks compulsory when applying for business licenses starting next month, as well as issuing notices to all food premises.

“The state government has also issued a circular on the use of face masks, and MBSA will implement it in stages, both in restaurants or at markets,” he said.

Recently, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari announced the use of face masks will be mandatory for hawkers and restaurant operators in Selangor.
