Malaysia’s NR Production Down 8% In Nov 2022—DOSM

Malaysia natural rubber (NR) production decreased by eight per cent year-on-year to 28,048 tonnes in November 2022 from 30,493 tonnes in the same month last year, the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) stated in its Monthly Rubber Statistics Malaysia, November 2022 released today (Jan 13).

In a statement today, chief statistician Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin said NR production in November 2022 was mainly contributed by the smallholders sector (87.2 per cent) compared with the estates sector (12.8 per cent).

He added month-on-month (m-o-m), NR production decreased 11.8 per cent to 28,048 tonnes in November 2022 from 31,795 in October 2022.

DOSM

Total stocks of natural rubber in November 2022 decreased by 1.4 per cent to 195,353  tonnes as compared to 198,181 tonnes in October 2022. Rubber processors factory contributed 90.4 per cent of the stocks followed by rubber consumers factory (9.5%) and rubber  estates (0.1%).

Exports of Malaysia’s natural rubber amounted to 51,104  tonnes in November 2022, increased 23.0 per cent as against October 2022 (41,548 tonnes). P.R. China remained as the main destination for natural rubber exports which accounted 54.3 per cent of total exports in November 2022 followed by the United States of America (3.6%), Germany (2.8%), Turkiye (2.2%) and Brazil (1.8%).

Analysis of the average monthly price showed that Latex Concentrated recorded an  increase of 1.3 per cent (November 2022: 472.58 sen per kg, October 2022: 466.42 sen per kg) while, Scrap decreased by 5.9 per cent (November 2022: 443.36 sen per kg, October 2022: 471.29 sen per kg). Prices for all Standard Malaysian Rubber (S.M.R) are mixed with a decline of 3.8 per cent  and increase up to 1.3 per cent.
