Monash University Malaysia Business School Selected As 2023 PRME Champion

The School of Business, Monash University Malaysia, is among the top 47 business schools, universities and institutions globally, selected as one of the prestigious PRME Champions for 2023.

Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) is a United Nations-supported initiative founded in 2007, with over 800 signatories worldwide. As a platform to raise the profile of sustainability in schools around the world, PRME equips today’s business students with the understanding and ability to deliver change tomorrow.

This year, 47 PRME Signatory Members, with a track record of impactful contributions in thought and action leadership towards Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), were selected to join the cohort by the PRME Secretariat from a pool of strong and diverse applicants.

“PRME is a great platform. Led by Mette Morsing, it is a dynamic initiative asserting global influence in the transformation of business education,” stated Priya Sharma, Director of PRME. “Ever since the School of Business at Monash University Malaysia became a proud signatory of PRME in 2017, we have actively led and contributed to the PRME agenda locally, regionally and globally,” she added.

As a flagship program, the PRME Champions Programme provides faculty members, students and industry leaders with a space for developing and sharing collaborative educational methods and a ‘living lab’ for ambitious new ideas for creating the next generation of sustainability-driven business schools and management-related higher education institutions in support of the SDGs.

The focus of the 2023 Champions cycle is on action leadership to inspire a global community, specifically through the implementation of SDGs in Research, Curriculum, and Partnerships, which serves as a repository of inspiring examples worldwide that will build on the work of higher education.

A unique feature of the 2023 cycle is engagement in The Impactful Five (i5) Project, a knowledge-sharing and peer-learning project with the aim of future-proofing higher education institutions with novel pedagogies and practices that inspire creativity and authenticity and underpin sustainable development across all disciplines of business education.

“We are proud to receive this recognition. As a premier Business School in the region, we aim to mentor and groom our graduates to become responsible managers. The PRME champion status is a testament to our contribution to the community and creating a valuable societal impact through our responsible management initiatives.” shared Professor Nafis Alam, Head of the School of Business, Monash University Malaysia. “As PRME champions, we will further extend our work and contribute to the thought leadership on responsible management education within Malaysia and beyond,” he added.
