LRT Ampang Line Experiencing Delays Due to Safety Factors, Shuttle Bus Provided

The LRT Ampang line is experiencing some issues. Due to safety concerns, Rapid KL has chosen to close the line between Masjid Jamek and Bandaraya stations. Trains from both directions will reverse direction, and shuttle buses will transfer passengers across the minor gap.

According to Rapid KL, the problem is caused by a ‘kinked’ track near the Bandaraya station. Early observations indicate that it is the result of structural damage to an overpass in the region, which is thought to be caused by adjacent active work.

Rapid Rail engineers are presently on the scene, along with structural specialists, to assess the situation and assure safety and stability. Rapid has decided to stop the stretch until stability and safety can be ensured due to safety concerns.

As a result, the LRT Ampang Line will operate slower and with a delay – intervals are now nine minutes in the CBD and 18 minutes outside of the CBD. Trains departing from Putra Heights will return to Plaza Rakyat, while trains departing from Sentul Timur will return to Bandaraya.

To bridge the distance, free shuttle buses have been deployed between Plaza Rakyat and Masjid Jamek stations. The bus number plates and routes they travel are shown below.
