Govt Aims to Turn Federal Territory to be Smart City by 2030, Says Anwar

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said the wish is in line with the concept of Madani Malaysia which also emphasizes the aspect of sustainability with the concept of green cities and smart cities.

“The Federal Territories Department also formulated a development agenda for the future in a sustainable, livable and smart manner.”

“Among the other programs organized are the use of electric buses in Kuala Lumpur, Wangsa Maju as a low-carbon pilot city, the addition of CCTV (closed-circuit cameras) installations in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya and the installation of Wi-Fi in public housing and public housing projects in Labuan,” he said.

He said this during the Speech of Honoring Love in conjunction with the Presentation Ceremony and the Awarding Ceremony of Honorary Degrees, Stars and Medals of the Federal Territories Year 2023 at Istana Negara today.

Anwar said based on the Federal Territories’ urban sustainability achievements measured through the MURNInets (Malaysian Rural Sustainable Urban Development Indicator Network) by the Town and Country Planning Department (PLANMalaysia), the three Federal Territories will achieve a sustainable level with excellence in 2022.

In addition, he said flood mitigation efforts will be continued more diligently in line with the flood mitigation plan that has been prepared.

“Patik strongly believes that the Federal Territories Department, Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and agencies will continue to move as fast as a public service team to administer and manage the progress and development of the Federal Territories.

“..patik is determined to ensure that the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan are administered and led in the best way so that the benefits of prosperity and peace can be enjoyed by the common people who are friendly to each other’s races and cultures,” he said.

The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah today granted the Federal Territories Degrees, Stars and Medals to 164 recipients in conjunction with the Federal Territories Day 2023 in the Federal Territories Degrees, Stars and Medals Awards Ceremony 2023.
