IJN Honours Heart Health Champions With Donor Appreciation Event

lnstitut Jantung Negara (IJN) commemorated individuals and organisations that have supported its mission of improving Malaysia’s heart health through its Appreciation Lunch.

Held at the Doubletree by Hilton in Kuala Lumpur, the event saw IJN leadership expressing gratitude to 100 donors present for going above and beyond in their commitment to aiding heart patients.

“IJN’s success as a specialist health provider would not have been possible without our ’collaborators in kindness’ who have all played a part in helping us improve the standards of care for heart patients in Malaysia and beyond,“ said IJN chief executive officer Datuk Dr Aizai Azan Abdul Rahim, during his opening remarks.

At IJN, every donor contribution represents an investment into the overall health of the community. Funding received is directly channelled into refining the centre’s delivery of care to patients; from introducing breakthrough medical technology to enhance medical expertise to improving infrastructure, donations enable IJN to scale its work and touch even more lives.

Additionally, donations are also used to provide treatment and care to underprivileged patients who may not otherwise be able to afford life-saving procedures.

“The impact our donors have had on patients’ lives is priceless, because every sen can make a world of difference. For instance, a single donation of medical equipment can greatly reduce patient wait times, and this in turn gives both patients and their families more ease of mind. We’re incredibly grateful for the support received so far and look forward to working with more like-minded partners who are keen on helping us deliver top-notch heart care to even more Malaysians,” added Dr Aizai.

“IJN’s success as a specialist health provider would not have been possible without our “collaborators in kindness” such as yourselves — you have all played a part in helping us improve the standards of care for heart patients in Malaysia and beyond. The donations you have made are an investment into the overall health of our community,” he said.

The event also saw the announcement of UN’s latest partner, Durioo, a streaming platform providing high-quality children’s content. The collaboration will see IJN and Durioo working together to produce educational health content aimed at children to raise awareness about heart health.

Additionally, the Appreciation Lunch was held in tandem with the 10th anniversary of IJN’s Paediatric and Congenital Heart Centre (PCHC). PCHC is recognised as the country’s go-to hospital for complex heart surgery in children, and is the only centre in Malaysia offering treatments for paediatric heart rhythm conditions.

In recognition of their contributions, sponsors present at the event received tokens of appreciation from UN. These included One Hope Charity & Welfare; Society for the Sabah Heart Fund; Star Foundation; Community Care Enrichment Programme Foundation (CCEP) Foundation; Dr Gladis Lawrence; Yayasan Jantung Kongenital Malaysia; Yayasan Tenaga Nasional; and Persatuan Heart of Charity Selangor dan Kuala Lumpur.
