Bursa Cautions On Facebook Page Scam Using Its CEO Image

Bursa Malaysia Berhad has detected Facebook pages that have misrepresented its Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Muhamad Umar Swift, and is advising the public that these pages have no relation to its CEO nor the Exchange and that measures are being taken to remove them

As a precautionary Bursa is urging the public to be wary and alert of investment or phishing scams while not forgetting to verify any web link or invitation to participate in any scheme. This can be assessed in several ways, not limited to scrutinising the web address, consistency of historical posts, appropriateness of grammar or language style, and the number of followers. Various social media applications such as Facebook, and Instagram, as well as popular chat applications such as Whatsapp, Telegram, and iMessage, have been used to lure unsuspecting members of the public to participate in dubious investment schemes or to sign up for giveaways.
