Applications For Scholarships Under The Japanese Govt Are Open Now Till May 5

The Embassy of Japan announced that the Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho:  MEXT) Scholarships for the academic year 2024 is open for application now. Malaysian nationals  who would like to pursue their studies in Japan are invited to apply for the scholarship. During the  term of the scholarship, monthly allowances of approximately 117,000 yen (approx RM4,000) will  be given to undergraduate and specialized training college grantee and 143,000 yen (approx  RM5,000) to postgraduate grantee (amount subject to change). Fees of the entrance examination,  matriculation and tuition at universities will be exempted. A round-trip airplane ticket is also  provided.  

There are three categories available under the scholarships: 

1. Undergraduate (5 ~ 7 years bachelor degree course from April 2024) a) Applicants must be between 18 and 25 years of age of 1st April 2024 (i.e. born after 2nd April  1999) 

b) Applicants must have completed SPM with at least 11 years of formal education (excluding  remove class). Students who have completed STPM, UEC, Matriculation or Diploma may  also apply with STPM, UEC, Matriculation or Diploma results. 

c) Applicants must have good command of English or Japanese with excellent result in other  major subjects. 

2. Specialized Training College (3 years diploma course from April 2024) a) Applicants must be between 18 and 25 years of age of 1st April 2024 (i.e. born after 2nd April 1999) 

b) Applicants must have completed SPM with at least 11 years of formal education (excluding  remove class). Students who have completed STPM, UEC, Matriculation or Diploma may  also apply with STPM, UEC, Matriculation or Diploma results. 

c) Applicants must have good command of English or Japanese with excellent result in other  major subjects. 

2. Postgraduate (1½ or 2 years course from April or October 2024) 

a) Applicants must be under 35 years of age as of 1st April 2024 (i.e. born on or after 2nd April  1989) 

b) Applicants must be a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree holder (minimum CGPA 3.4) with 16  years of formal education (excluding remove class). Undergraduates or Master’s students  who are in the final year at their respective universities are eligible to apply.

Application due date for the scholarship is on 5 May 2023 (Friday), before 4:00pm
