Genting Director Resigns To Join Election Commission

Genting Malaysia has announced that Non-Executive Director Dato’ Dr. Lee Bee Phang has tendered her resignation with immediate effect upon being offered a role in the Election Commission.

She received the letter on 29 March 2023 from the Chief Secretary to the Government of Malaysia under the Prime Minister’s Department in relation to her appointment as a member of the Election Commission of Malaysia with effect from 22 March 2023, as endorsed by His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia.

The Letter, among others, specified that she is not allowed to engage in any position or paid work outside of her position as a member of SPR. Arising from the above, she tendered her resignation with immediate effect.

Prior to joining the private sector, she was the Deputy Commisioner Police at the Deputy Chief of IGP Secretariat (Research and Development) Royal Malaysian Police, Bukit Aman. She joined the Royal Malaysian Police in 1987 as Cadet ASP and rose to the rank of DCP in 2015. Dato’ Dr. Lee held various command posts and management positions in Royal Malaysian Police. She obtained her Masters majoring in ‘Economics of Crime’ in 1998 from University Science of Malaysia (USM) and her PhD in the field of ‘Juvenile Crime’ in 2010 from University of Malaya (UM). Her areas of expertise include crime and intelligence analysis, formulating and drafting security policies.

She was conferred with Darjah Indera Mahkota Pahang (DIMP) which carries the title ‘Dato’ in 2014.
