GIFT.ed Launches Disruptive Learning Platform to spur Sustainability Fluency and drive Societal Redesign

GIFT.ed, a disruptive EdTech initiative by the Global Institute For Tomorrow (GIFT), was recently launched as a unique learning platform to empower a new generation of businesspeople, policymakers, and youths to gain insights with the purpose of ‘redesigning society for the better’.

The platform empowers learners through critical thinking with practical knowledge to take informed decisions and implement solutions that will shape the future and address existential challenges head-on, the company said in a statement to Business Today Malaysia. In addition, the platform leverages a proprietary Disruptive Learning Model that couples cutting-edge content, rich multimedia engagement tools, personalised learning journeys and artificial intelligence to deliver value to users with every interaction.

Commenting on the launch, GIFT.ed Chairman Chandran Nair (right in pic, with CEO Janet Teo), said: “We are extremely excited to go live just a year after we welcomed our first investor. The timing couldn’t be better, or the need greater. Recent global developments in geopolitical tensions, economic volatility, and climate complexity have made it abundantly clear that organisations must significantly improve their sustainability fluency. Importantly, this isn’t just about environmental protection. It’s having an institutional capacity around sustainability that drives values and decision-making.”

“Now more than ever, our troubled world needs a pragmatic and intellectually honest narrative to spur innovation for social good. Governments and businesses need new approaches to inspire and engage employees, and creative spaces where business models, policies, and strategies rooted in the stark realities of the 21st century can flourish. This is vital for any organisation committed to integrating ESG principles into its strategy and contributing to the UN Sustainable Development Goals,” he added.

“The learning journeys offered on the platform capture the collective expertise of pioneering thinkers from around the world to bridge this gap and catalyse radical change. With the right insights, every learner in every corner of the world can generate the next big idea.”

The platform will draw on an ecosystem of partners from the World Economic Forum (WEF), Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), The Club of Rome, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Cambridge University, IIT India, and others to deliver cutting-edge curricula to clients from the public and private sectors.

In conjunction with the launch, GIFT.ed had hosted an Inaugural Discussion, with keynotes provided by Professor Jeffrey Sachs, President of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network; Dame Jane Goodall, the world-leading conservationist; and Professor Hellmut Schutte, Professor Emeritus of International Management at INSEAD, and more.

A diverse range of global experts have contributed to the curriculum, including:

• Mr. Feike Sijbesma, Chairman of the Dutch multinational corporation DSM;

• Mr. Piyush Gupta, CEO of DBS Group;

• Ms. Sharan Burrow, General Secretary of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC);

• His Excellency Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy;

• Professor Kishore Mahbubani of the National University of Singapore and former Singaporean Ambassador to the UN;

• Ms. Kate Raworth, author of the best-selling “Doughnut Economics”;

• Professor David Korten, former Harvard Business School professor; among others.

The GIFT.ed curricula tackle salient issues such as: Why will the 21st century be different? What is the purpose of the economy now and going forward in a world faced with existential threats? What is the role of business in a society that is demanding a new social contract? How do we manage and price the externalities of our economic activity? How should the State govern its people and provide basic needs given resource constraints? How can equity and plurality play out on the global stage despite geopolitical differences?

The platform aims to empower employees at all levels with the ability to apply critical thinking and holistic decision-making principles to local situations in order to create systemic change with a view to redesign society.
