MOH Announces Extended Clinic Hours

In order to reduce the issue of overcrowding in Hospital Emergency Departments, the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) has made a new initiative by extending the operating hours for selected health clinics (klinik kesihatan).

Minister of Health, Dr Zaliha Mustafa, worked together with the State Health Department to overcome the problem of overcrowding in hospital emergency departments which caused patients to have to wait a long time to receive treatment.

In the meantime, as many as 52 health clinics that have been identified can be extended their operating hours.

New Operating Hours of the Health Clinic 2023

Operating hours are extended from 5.00pm to 9.30pm Monday to Friday and 8.00am to 12.00pm on Saturdays.

For the states of Kedah, Kelantan, and Johor, operating hours are Sunday to Thursday from 5.00 pm to 9.30 pm and 8.00 am to 12.00 noon on Saturdays.

This service is not implemented on Fridays (for the States of Kedah, Kelantan, and Johor) and Sundays (States other than Kedah, Kelantan, and Johor) and Public Holidays.

However, operating hours and working days will be adjusted according to local needs.
