KL Kepong has confirmed the appointment of Tan Sri Shahril Ridza as the non-executive director effective May 2, 2023.
Tan Sri Shahril is currently the Chairman of Axiata Group Berhad, a company listed on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad. He also sits on the Board of Ekuiti Nasional Berhad. Previously, Tan Sri Shahril led Khazanah Nasional Berhad as its Managing Director from August 2018 to August 2021, where he worked towards striking a balance between growing financial returns at the national sovereign fund whilst also ensuring long-term benefits for future generations of Malaysians.
Tan Sri Shahril served as Chief Executive Officer (“CEO”) of the Employees Provident Fund of Malaysia (“EPF”) from April 2013 to August 2018. He joined EPF as Deputy CEO (Investments) in December 2009. During his tenure at EPF, he also served as a Non-Executive Board Member of Media Prima Berhad, Malaysia Building Society Berhad, Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad (“MRCB”) and IJN Holdings Sdn Bhd.
Prior to joining EPF, he was the Managing Director of MRCB from 2003 to 2009, where he was responsible for developing Kuala Lumpur Sentral into one of the main commercial centres in Malaysia. He currently owns- 5,000 shares in Kuala Lumpur Kepong Berhad.
