Hospital Serdang is now rebranded and known as Hospital Sultan Idris Shah Serdang.

The Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj and Tengku Permaisuri Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin today (May 8) agreed to inaugurate and rebrand the hospital which was completed in 2005.

In the decree, Sultan Sharafuddin also expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the government for naming the hospital in conjunction with his name.

“I am also grateful that the Sultan Idris Shah Hospital Cardiology Center, which the community in the Klang Valley and surrounding areas has been waiting for, has been completed and is operating well.

“With the completion of this Cardiology Center, it will be a complement to the existing hospital block and the common people in particular, Selangor residents have a choice of public hospital facilities that are equipped with heart treatment services with advanced equipment and high technology.

“Compared to before which only depended on the National Heart Institute, Kuala Lumpur.

“I hope that with the construction of this Cardiology Center, it can improve the standard of health service delivery and reduce the waiting time for treatment of heart patients in Selangor,” said His Majesty.

Also present were the Minister of Health, Dr Zaliha Mustafa and the Director General of Health, Datuk Dr Muhammad Radzi Abu Hassan.

At the event, the two majesties also agreed to spend more than an hour to visit the Time Capsule Gallery, the Cardiac Radiology Unit and the Non-Invasive Cardiology Laboratory.

In the meantime, Sultan Sharafuddin also hoped for strategic cooperation between the hospital and the university’s medical faculty for expertise in other fields.

“I am informed that Sultan Idris Shah Hospital has a strategic partnership with the Faculty of Health Sciences Medicine, Universiti Putra Malaysia and Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Hospital.

“This collaboration involves the training and placement of Undergraduate and Graduate students (Medicine and Nursing). It is hoped that this collaboration can also be extended to facilities that cover other specialty services.

“In this way, trained doctors and nurses can practice safe patient care and have professional work ethics,” he said.

His Majesty also advised the hospital to continue to patiently serve the patients receiving treatment at the medical center.

“I realized that the job of a doctor in a hospital is very challenging and requires a lot of patience when giving treatment to patients.

“However, I am pleased that the health workers at Sultan Idris Shah Hospital provide the best service with full dedication and responsibility and a lot of patience to deal with the patient’s needs.

“I also call on the public to be considerate and patient when seeking treatment at the government hospital because there are many patients who need attention when space and treatment rooms are limited,” said Sultan Sharafuddin.
