AmMetLife Appoints Rangam Bir As New CEO

AmMetLife Insurance Berhad (AmMetLife) today (May 10) announced that Rangam Bir has been appointed as the company’s CEO.

Bir succeeds Lee Jiau Jiunn, who has retired from the company on 28 April 2023. Bir has over two decades of experience in the industry, across multiple markets, and he currently serves as an independent director for the Malaysian Insurance Institute. He has a track record for performance and transformational leadership and has led his companies to recognition in digital advancements and employer branding.

In announcing the appointment, Elena Butarova, MetLife’s Regional Head of Bangladesh, Malaysia, Nepal and Vietnam said, “We are excited to have Rangam Bir join AmMetLife. His extensive industry knowledge and proven leadership strengths will drive AmMetLife’s ambitions to build a more confident future for all our stakeholders.” 

Bir is a graduate of India’s University of Bombay, holding Bachelor of Engineering and Master of Management Studies degrees. He is a Fellow of the Malaysian Insurance Institute, a Member of the Institute of Corporate Directors Malaysia, and a Global Association Member of the Singapore Institute of Directors.
