Destini Berhad has confirmed the appointment of former Election Commission Chairman and Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Azhar Harun to the board as Independent Director.
Tan Sri Azhar Harun is currently practicing law at the firm of Messrs. Azhar & Goh and his areas of practice are set out in the fields of Banking and commercial laws; Corporate laws; Corporate receivership, insolvencies and debts and corporate restructurings; Defamation; Election petitions; Building and construction laws; and General laws.
Prior to his current occupation, he was involved in public service where he was the Chairman of the Election Commission from 2018 until 2020 and also was a speaker for Dewan Rakyat from 2020 until 2022. Other working experiences of Tan Sri Azhar Harun include delivering papers on corporate insolvencies, bankruptcies, land laws, and human rights as well as the Federal Constitution at various seminars and courses in Kuala Lumpur, was an examiner for the Civil Procedure examination paper for the Certificate of Legal Practice course and also was a tutor in the Law Faculty of the University of Malaya.
