Ministry To Hold Discussion With Coldplay Organiser On Ticketing System Complaints

The Ministry of Communications and Digital (KKD) will call the organisers of the Coldplay concert held next November to understand their system and ticket sales process.

Minister of Communications and Digital Fahmi Fadzil said this was in response to complaints from people who had difficulty getting tickets due to ‘ticket worms’ who bought in large quantities.

He said, the meeting will also discuss measures that can be taken by the organisers so that the same thing does not happen again in the future.

“Among the things we will probably look into is the way the tickets are bought, whether there should be restrictions or even certain conditions imposed on the organisers.

“We are also looking into the existing legal provisions if we need to take action,” he said.

He said this to reporters before paying a courtesy call on Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly building today (May 19).

Coldplay, the world’s leading music group, successfully held a concert in their Music Of The Spheres World Tour series in Malaysia this November.

This is the first concert performed by the British band in Malaysia, scheduled for Nov 22 at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium.

Meanwhile, commenting on the construction of telecommunications towers in Sarawak, he said the Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) has successfully built more than 600 towers so far.

“Of that number, about half already have telco companies operating. We are investigating and immediately solving this problem, including calling telco companies,” he said.
