MDV Berhad Appoints Wong Chen As New Chairman

Malaysia Debt Ventures Berhad, a subsidiary of the Minister of Finance and an agency under the purview of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), has appointed Wong Chen as its new Non-Executive Chairman effective from 23 May 2023. 

He will succeed Khairul Azwan Harun, whose term ended on 31 December 2022.

Wong Chen brings with him more than 22 years of experience as a former corporate lawyer who specialised in Information Technology law and mergers & acquisitions. He was educated at the United World College of Southeast Asia, Singapore, and obtained his law degree from the University of Warwick, UK.  A passionate advocate in matters related to climate change and human rights, his diverse knowledge also includes the areas of fiscal, economic, international trade, and policy-making.

He is currently serving his third term as a Member of Parliament for Subang and is the Chairman of the Special Select Committee on International Relations & Trade and the All-Party Parliamentary Group Malaysia (APPGM) on Political Financing. He was previously the Deputy Chairman of the Special Select Committee on Finance & Economy and had served as a member of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) for two years. 

Internationally, he is a member of the High-Level Working Group on Science & Technology of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), representing the Asia Pacific Region, and an active senior member of the ASEAN Parliamentarians for Human Rights (APHR). He is also a founding member of the Southeast Asian Community group (SEAC).

Given Wong Chen’s broad experience and expertise, MDV said it is confident that under his leadership.
