Made In China C919 Kicks Off First Commercial Flight

C919, China’s self-developed large passenger aircraft, kicked off its first commercial flight from Shanghai to Beijing on Sunday, marking its official entry into the civil aviation market.

The Made In China commercial aircraft breaks the grip on international air mobility currently dominated by the US and Europe.

Built by COMAC (Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China) in China the first C919 was delivered to China Eastern Airlines in December 2022 and has been put into a series of test flights before it was approved for commercial flight.

The single-aisle twin-engined aircraft has 164 seats in a two-class combination consisting of business and economy. With a range of 5,555 kilometers the C919 will be taking on Boeing and Airbus directly competing with their A320 and B737.
