Sunfert International Fertility Centre Recognised As Fertility Centre Of The Year In APAC

Sunfert International Fertility Centre (Sunfert) was recognised as the ‘Fertility Centre of The Year in Asia Pacific’ for the second time at the GlobalHealth Asia-Pacific Awards 2023, while also securing the ‘Excellence in Patient Service Provider of The Year in Asia Pacific’ award. The awards mark a significant milestone for Sunfert, which has successfully helped bring over 5,000 babies into the world through its advanced fertility treatments.

On winning the ‘Excellence in Patient Service Provider of The Year in Asia Pacific’ award, Lakshmi Menon, General Manager of Sunfert Group said, “Sunfert prioritises patient outcomes and patient service excellence, considering the emotional journey couples go through while trying to start or expand their families. Our dedicated team of medical professionals, including experienced fertility specialists, nurses, and support staff, are committed to understanding and addressing their patient’s unique needs and concerns. By fostering open communication, Sunfert aims to create a supportive and empowering environment throughout their fertility journey.”

All of Sunfert’s branches are accredited by the Reproductive Technology Accreditation Committee (RTAC), a professional group of the Board of Fertility Society of Australia. The accreditation shows Sunfert’s dedication to patient-centred fertility care that prioritises safety and quality throughout the treatment process.

In 2009, Sunfert embarked on a mission to help couples achieve their dreams of parenthood. Today, it is a one-stop fertility centre with its own genetic testing laboratory thus enabling faster turn-around of results and stringent in-house quality control. The flagship centre in Bangsar South, Kuala Lumpur offers an in-house genetic testing laboratory equipped with state-of-the-art medical technology, enabling precision in pre-implantation genetic testing procedures. Sunfert has expanded with additional branches in Ipoh, Seremban, Kuching and is poised for further expansion within Malaysia and the South East Asian region.

Sunfert achieved another milestone in 2020 by establishing Malaysia’s first private Oncofertility hub. Using an innovative technology called Ovarian Tissue Cryopreservation, that enables women and pre-pubertal girls to preserve their ovarian tissues (egg-producing tissues) prior to undergoing cancer treatment. The ovarian tissues are harvested through a surgical procedure prior to starting cancer treatment, frozen (cryopreserved) and transplanted years later once the patient has been cleared of cancer and is ready to start a family. By safeguarding their reproductive potential, these women and children empower themselves to fulfil their desire for a family when they are ready.

“At Sunfert, we have different payment options to make fertility treatments more accessible and this includes a cashless payment option via EPF (Employee Provident Fund) Account 2 and the government’s incentive of tax relief of up to RM8,000 for fertility treatments. These initiatives aim to alleviate the financial burden on couples and to have a hassle-free IVF journey. We are also excited about the opportunities that lie ahead, including future expansions. This would enable us to serve a larger community and provide our personalised care to individuals and couples from all walks of life,” concluded Lakshmi proudly.
