TVET Programme Organised To Improve Human Capital Among Indigenous People

The Ministry of Human Resources in collaboration with Jabatan Kemajuan Orang Asli (JAKOA) has organised the technical, vocational education and training programmes (TVET) programme and the Orang Asli Career Program on 3 June 2023 at the Orang Asli One Stop Center (OAOSC) Bawong, Sungai Siput, Perak.

The organisation of this program is in line with the celebration of TVET day on June 2 every year. This program is an initiative of the Minister of Human Resources to increase the awareness and involvement of the Orang Asli community in the field of TVET.

This programme aims to promote various skills based on TVET to help improve the socio-economics of the Orang Asli community. In addition, this program can provide training and career opportunities based on TVET to the target, in addition to obtaining profile information (profiling) of the Orang Asli community who are interested in participating in the TVET program.

This programme is an important platform to provide the skills needed to face the Industrial Revolution 4.0 and technological changes in the job market. This effort is to produce quality and highly skilled human capital which is the focus of the 12th Malaysia Plan (RMK12), through the National Technical Education and Vocational Training (TVET) Empowerment Agenda.

Programme participants, especially the youth in the Orang Asli community, were given exposure to various skill areas based on TVET such as electrical technology, scaffolding, culinary and pastry, make-up and hairdressing, as well as handicraft production. They have the opportunity to use the equipment and training equipment brought by the exhibitors to increase their understanding and interest in the fields.

The Ministry of Human Resources and JAKOA will continue to plan and implement various TVET programs in the short and long term to help improve the living standards of the Orang Asli community.
