90% of Booths Snapped Up, Industry Partners Lining Up For MIHAS 2023

The 19th Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS 2023) is generating very strong interest from the industry as global post-COVID  economic recovery continues to gather steam, driven by interest from local and international  companies focussed in various halal sectors.

Currently, 90% of the 1,500 exhibition booths are already taken up and it is now projected that  MIHAS 2023 will be sold out by August. Aside from the conventional food and beverage  cluster, these exhibitors include those in food technology and packaging, pharmaceuticals and  medical devices, education, modest fashion and lifestyle, eCommerce, retail and franchise,  hospitality and tourism, services and enablers, Islamic finance and fintech, media and  recreation, cosmetics and personal care, and Islamic arts and crafts.

Hosted by the Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry (MITI) and organised by the  Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), MIHAS 2023 will be held  from 12 to 15 September at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC),  Kuala Lumpur. MIHAS 2023 is the world’s largest showcase dedicated towards the Halal  sector.

There is also heightened interest from industry players to leverage MIHAS 2023 as a platform  to forge strategic partnerships. The latest to come on-board is Malaysia Airlines (MAS), which  has been appointed as MIHAS’ official airline. The partnership entails MAS offering MIHAS  participants an exclusive early bird promotion from 1 June to 15 June 2023 for those travelling  on 5 to 22 September via MAS (international) or Firefly (domestic). According to MATRADE’s CEO, YBhg. Datuk Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz,  “The strong interest from the industry both in terms of securing booths in MIHAS 2023 as well  as seeking partnership arrangements is largely due to MIHAS’ solid brand and track record  over the years.

“The support of prominent industry partners is a clear testament to the trust that leading brands  have towards MIHAS. Indeed, MIHAS remains a leading platform for global Halal companies  that are keen to tap the US$5 trillion (RM22 trillion) global Halal market,” he added.

The growth of the global Halal market is driven by favourable population demographics,  government policies, and private sector initiatives. The increasing Muslim population  worldwide and the awareness of the standards carried by Halal products as well as services are  contributing to the industry’s advancement.

According to Datuk Mohd Mustafa, MIHAS 2023 will also be leveraging innovative solutions  such as digital tools to further support exhibitors’ export aspirations and ensure it remains on  track to achieve its stated sales target of RM2.1 billion.

The 18th edition of MIHAS 2022 recorded RM2.36 billion in total sales, exceeding the initial  target of RM1.9 billion. RM1.65 billion of the total sales were generated by both domestic and  international exhibitors.
