Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli confirmed that there is no discussion at the government level to lower the retail price of RON95 fuel and diesel.
According to him, the rumor of the RON95 price drop is the first time he has heard it.
“Until now, I have never heard, in fact, there has never been any discussion about it,” he said at a press conference after launching the 2022 Household Income and Expenditure Survey (HIES) Report here on Friday.
In fact, he said, the world crude oil price has increased to US$70 per barrel and once reached around US$83 per barrel.
“The decision to lower the price of fuel is actually under the Ministry of Finance because it involves the allocation of fuel subsidies,” explained Rafizi.
Previously, MIDF Research expected the government to consider lowering the retail price of RON95 by 10 sen to RM1.95 per liter next month.
