SKS Airways Engineers in Brazil for E195-E2 Intensive Training; Gearing Up for Expansion

Malaysia’s new commercial airline, SKS Airways is gearing up with its expansion plans and currently in a phase of making significant progress, ready for its next phase of growth with the new Embraer E195-E2s.

In line with its strategic vision to expand its flight offerings and fleet size in the coming months, SKS Airways dispatched a team of seven skilled engineers to Brazil for an intensive practical training program led by the renowned aircraft manufacturer, Embraer.

The core objective of this comprehensive two-week training program is to empower SKS Airways’ engineers with the expertise and in-depth knowledge required for the maintenance and troubleshooting of the E195-E2 aircraft, with a strong focus on ensuring its safety.

The team comprises licensed aircraft engineers, technical services engineer, quality assurance inspector from SKS Airways and two representatives from Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM).

SKS Airways Director, Dato’ Rohman Ahmad said: “The practical training for our engineers is essential as we prepare for our regional expansion with a new fleet of Embraer E195-E2 jets. It is crucial that we enhance our technical capabilities to effectively execute our regional growth strategy.”

SKS Airways’ licensed aircraft engineer Mohammad Mazlan Mohd Sanusi said, “The practical training is necessary for me to prepare for the operation of Embraer E195-E2 jets next year. It presents a valuable learning opportunity, considering that this marks my first overseas training after having worked in the industry for close to 20 years.”

This milestone will position SKS Airways as the first regional airline operating out of Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport (commonly known as Subang Airport), with a particular focus on serving time-sensitive travellers.

In May 2023, SKS Airways entered strategic partnerships with Embraer Commercial Aviation and Azorra for the leasing of 10 E195-E2s at the 16th Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace exhibition (“LIMA 23”). Commencing in January 2024, the E195-E2s will form the core of SKS Airways’ expansion plans and is set to be the first operator of E195-E2s in Southeast Asia.
