Ahmad Maslan said the tax collection target is achievable as various efforts and innovations have been carried out by IRB.

“However, more needed to be done to increase the level of efficiency, transparency, and effectiveness of our tax system,” he said.

“I hope that in the next two months, IRB will continue to optimise its performance, to achieve a significant and historical tax collection record for the country’s coffers,” he said at the press conference after officiation 2023 IRB Innovation and Integrity Day in Cyberjaya today (Nov 1).

Last year, IRB has achieved the highest tax collection in history for RM175 billion compared to RM140 billion in 2021.

On the RM100 e-tunai aid, Ahmad Maslan said citizens aged 21 and above with annual income not more than RM100,000 will receive the RM 100 credit in December, involving 10 million recipients from the B40 and M40 groups, from a government’s allocation of RM1 billion.

“The initiative shows that if the government is able to collect more tax, we can distributed the money back to the people…if we receive more, we give more,” he added.
