Toyota Plants To Restart, Parts To Be Sourced Outside Earthquake Hit Areas

Toyota Motor Corporation will continue to operate its plants in Japan after the earthquake devastated parts of the country, the worlds biggest car manufacturer said the plant operation are schedule for January 8 onwards.

The company said many of its local suppliers and their affiliates were affected by the earthquake and will instead utilise parts in stock outside the affected areas.

As aftershocks are still continuing in the Noto region, Toyota said it would like to determine separately concerning operations after January 15. It will be done while carefully assessing the situation and continuing to place the highest priority on the safety of those involved and the restoration of the region.
