Datuk Rodzi Md Saad Assumes Role As Chief Secretary Of The Ministry Of Digital

Datuk Rodzi Md Saad has been appointed as the Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Digital, effective December 12, 2023, according to an announcement by Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali on Tuesday.

With a 34-year career in public service, the 60-year-old Rodzi, who previously held the position of Director-General of the Administration Modernization and Management Planning Unit of Malaysia (MAMPU), brings a wealth of experience to his new role.

Notably, he has also served as the Director-General of National Security, overseeing critical aspects of national security, including borders, maritime, and cyber security.

Rodzi’s extensive background in managing diverse aspects of national security positions him to play a vital role in advancing the digital technology development of the country. His appointment is in line with the vision of Malaysia Madani, which aims for a comprehensive, inclusive, and sustainable digital service delivery.

“In appointing him, we hope that he can drive the development of the nation’s digital technology to empower holistic, inclusive, and sustainable digital service delivery in line with the aspirations of Malaysia Madani,” stated Mohd Zuki in an official statement.

This appointment comes as part of the recent Cabinet restructuring by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on December 12, marking the first Cabinet reshuffle under the Unity Government.

The Ministry of Communications and Digital, which was previously combined, has now been separated into the Ministry of Communications and the Ministry of Digital.

Prime Minister Anwar underscored that the creation of the Ministry of Digital is a strategic move to lead digital transformation efforts, ensuring that the country remains competitive and does not fall behind in the rapidly evolving digital landscape.
