Batik Air Signs MOU For China Route Expansion

Witnessed by the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Datuk Sri Tiong King Sing, Batik Air and Jiangsu TopView Cultural Tourism Industry Development Co. Ltd. signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today to expand their charter flights on routes to China.

The agreement covers four routes: Nanning to Kuala Lumpur, Shanghai to Tawau, Chengdu to Tawau, and Shenzhen to Tawau.

This expansion follows the success of existing charters initiated by Jiangsu Topview, which started on January 23, 2024, and will continue until the end of March 2024 to accommodate the Chinese New Year and spring festival holiday season.

Datuk Sri Tiong King Sing expressed that the collaboration strengthens the bond between the two nations and promotes Malaysia as a premier destination for Chinese travelers.

The increase in flights from China to Malaysia is attributed to the proactive efforts of the Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, including a sales mission to China and the announcement of visa-free travel for Chinese tourists starting December 1, 2023.

In 2023, Malaysia welcomed 1.47 million arrivals from China, marking a significant growth compared to the previous year.
