Tengku Zafrul To Meet Microsoft CEO With Hopes Of Elevating Malaysia As ASEAN Digital Hub

Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz is set to meet with Satya Nadella, the chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of Microsoft, to discuss plans aimed at positioning Malaysia as the digital hub of Asean.

“The ‘Kekal Bersama Malaysia’ initiative is witnessing a collaboration between Malaysia and Microsoft to make our country the digital hub of Asean,” said Tengku Zafrul through a post on his X account today. He added that Satya will visit the country soon to strengthen the collaboration.

“Looking forward to closer collaboration with Microsoft to drive Malaysia’s leadership in the Asean digital sphere,” Tengku Zafrul said.

Tengku Zafrul expressed anticipation for Satya’s visit to Malaysia, underscoring the significance of strengthening the partnership between the two entities.

Satya Nadella, who assumed the role of CEO in 2014, followed by his appointment as chairman in 2021, is scheduled to visit Malaysia soon to reinforce the collaboration with the Malaysian government.

Highlighting the importance of this partnership, Tengku Zafrul emphasised the aim to enhance Malaysia’s leadership in the Asean digital landscape.

Additionally, Satya Nadella is slated to deliver an opening keynote address on the advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) at ‘Microsoft Build: AI Day’ to be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on March 20, 2024.
