Bursa Malaysia Breaks 3-Day Winning Streak To Close Lower

Bursa Malaysia ended trading at an intraday low and snapped its three-day winning streak on Tuesday, following the lacklustre performance seen across the region, said an analyst.

At 5pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) fell 8.68 points to 1,544.96 from Monday’s close of 1,553.64.

The benchmark index opened 2.05 points easier at 1,551.59 and reached its intraday high of 1,552.1 during the mid-morning session. 

However, market breadth was positive with gainers leading decliners 511 to 502, while 484 counters were unchanged, 797 untraded and nine others suspended.

Turnover declined to 4.05 billion units worth RM3.09 billion from 4.24 billion units worth RM2.79 billion on Monday. 

Today’s trading saw banking, plantation and utility stocks falling. Maybank fell 10 sen to RM9.65, Public Bank (PBBANK) fell 1 sen to RM4.28, CIMB fell 4 sen to RM6.61, and RHB Bank (RHBBANK) fell 3 sen to RM5. .67.

 Additionally, both YTL and Genting counters fell with the  KLCI being weak throughout the day, and investors remained cautious. YTL POWR fell 3 sen to RM3.89, with a high of RM4.07 and a low of RM3.69 throughout the day, while Genting Malaysia (GENM) fell 3 sen to RM2.87.

Meanwhile, DLADY milk rose RM1.32 to RM26.92, APOLLO rose RM1.23 to RM7.00, and SUNWAY rose 22 sen to RM3.32.
