Raymond Lew Re-elected As LIAM President

At the 50th Annual General Meeting of the Life Insurance Association of Malaysia (LIAM) held on March 27, 2024 Sun Life Malaysia, Chief Executive Officer and President, Raymond Lew, was re-elected as LIAM President. Joining him is AIA Bhd. CEO, Ben Ng, appointed as the new Vice-President for the term 2024/2025.

Raymond Lew, with over 30 years of financial experience, spearheads Sun Life Malaysia Assurance Berhad (SLM) as CEO and President. He also serves as the Country Head of Sun Life Malaysia and is a vital member of the Sun Life Asia Executive Committee.

Under his leadership, Sun Life Malaysia has witnessed impressive business transformation, driven by pioneering distribution strategies, digital transformation, and partnership network expansion.

Ben Ng, bringing 30 years of industry expertise, serves as CEO of AIA Bhd. His qualifications as a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS) underscore his proficiency.

Since assuming leadership at AIA Malaysia, Ben has led the company to achieve transformational growth across distribution channels, leveraging digital capabilities and customer-centric propositions.

LIAM is also supported by seven other committee members, including CEOs from Generali Life Insurance Malaysia Berhad, Great Eastern Life Assurance (Malaysia) Berhad, Hong Leong Assurance Berhad, Malaysian Life Reinsurance Group Berhad, Manulife Insurance Berhad, Prudential Assurance Malaysia Berhad, and Tokio Marine Life Insurance Malaysia Bhd.

LIAM CEO, Mark O’Dell highlighted the association’s plans for its Golden Anniversary, including financial education initiatives, social media awareness campaigns, and CSR programmes. With support from member companies and stakeholders, LIAM remains committed to serving the public and promoting awareness about life insurance protection, aligned with the Financial Sector Blueprint 2022-2026 agenda.
